Delta State Governor, Sheriff Oborevwori, has hinted at an impending cabinet reshuffle, declaring that non-performing commissioners in his administration will be removed from office.
Gov. Oborevwori made this known on Monday, during the commissioning of eight newly constructed duplexes at the Commissioners’ Quarters in Asaba.
The governor, who used the occasion to commend hardworking and loyal members of his cabinet, warned that underperformance will no longer be tolerated.
“People spread a lot of rumours that the governor wants to dissolve this, the governor wants to do that, and they haven’t even heard from me,” Gov. Oborevwori said.
“But let me say this clearly: if you are not performing, we drop you. That won’t affect others who are doing well. Is it not true?”
He stressed that a few commissioners were already under scrutiny for under-performance.
“There are like two or three people who are not performing. I told one today, you are not doing well.
“As a commissioner, we don’t see you. No memos. You don’t look for the governor. The governor will not come and look for you,” he stated.

The governor emphasized that performance is the key benchmark for retaining office.
“Any problem in any ministry, hold the commissioner responsible. Any ministry doing very well, it means the commissioner is doing well,” he said.
Gov. Oborevwori acknowledged the presence of top state officials, including the deputy governor, chief judge, and members of the state House of Assembly, before proceeding to commission the residential project.
The governor’s remarks come amid growing public interest in the performance of government appointees and could signal the emergence of a more performance-driven cabinet.
