Hip-hop icon Jay-Z is celebrating three decades in music with a sold-out three-night concert series at Yankee Stadium in New York, a milestone many fans describe as one of the city’s biggest cultural events of the year.
The concerts commemorate the 30th anniversary of Jay-Z’s landmark debut album, Reasonable Doubt, released in 1996, and the 25th anniversary of his critically acclaimed album The Blueprint.
The first show honours Reasonable Doubt, the second focuses on The Blueprint, while a third “Extra Innings” performance combines both albums following overwhelming fan demand.
Born Shawn Carter in Brooklyn, Jay-Z rose from the Marcy Houses public housing project to become one of the world’s most successful entertainers and entrepreneurs.

Throughout his career, he has won 25 Grammy Awards and became the first rapper inducted into both the Songwriters Hall of Fame and the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
Fans from across the United States travelled to New York for the concerts, describing them as more than musical performances but celebrations of the rapper’s enduring influence on hip-hop and New York culture.
Many said his story of rising from humble beginnings continues to inspire generations.
The Yankee Stadium performances also extend Jay-Z’s record for the most sold-out concerts at the iconic venue, reinforcing his status as one of the city’s biggest musical attractions.
Following the New York shows, the “Jay-Z 30” anniversary tour will continue with performances in London, Paris and Los Angeles later this year, giving international fans an opportunity to celebrate the rapper’s enduring legacy.
