The Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has officially unveiled the cost breakdown for the 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) and Direct Entry (DE), along with key registration details that prospective candidates must know.
In a post on its official X (formerly Twitter) account, JAMB disclosed that candidates opting for UTME with a mock test will pay a total of N8,700, while those registering without the mock test will pay N7,200. Additionally, the board has introduced a new Mock Trial Testing for future candidates, which will cost N3,500. The registration fee for Direct Entry (DE) has been set at N5,700.
Breaking down the registration cost, JAMB explained that the application fee for both UTME and DE is N3,500, while candidates are also required to pay N1,000 for the recommended reading text. Other charges include a N700 CBT centre registration service fee, a N1,500 CBT centre UTME service charge, a N1,500 fee for the optional mock test, and a N500 bank charge. For candidates opting for the mock UTME, an additional N1,500 service charge is required at the CBT centre.

The registration period for the 2025 UTME is scheduled to begin on January 31 and will close on March 8, 2025. Candidates interested in Direct Entry registration must apply between March 10 and April 7, 2025. JAMB emphasized that UTME registration will take place at its accredited CBT centres nationwide, while DE registration will only be available at the board’s state and zonal offices.
JAMB has reiterated that all candidates must provide their National Identification Number (NIN) as part of the registration process. To generate a profile, candidates are advised to obtain their NIN from the National Identity Management Commission (NIMC) and use a retrievable phone number to send an SMS in the format: “NIN [space] NIN number” to either 55019 or 66019. The board also advised candidates under 18 to use their parents’ phone numbers to avoid complications if their SIM card gets lost or damaged.
As the 2025 UTME and DE registration kicks off, candidates are encouraged to stay updated with official JAMB announcements to avoid misinformation and ensure a smooth registration process.
