The Taraba State Police Command, in collaboration with the military and local hunters, has announced the successfully rescued of an Israeli national.
The Israeli national whose name was given as Mr. Gil Itamar, was said to have been abducted by armed criminals in Atim Community along the Takum/Chanchangi road.
In a statement made available to Journalists by the command, the incident, according to the police, occurred around 9:15 AM when Mr. Itamar, a staff member of SCC Company, was kidnapped while being escorted by military personnel.
His abduction was promptly reported to law enforcement by Alhaji Saidu, a fellow staff member of SCC, who raised the alarm.
Detailing how the rescue operation unfolded, upon receiving the distress call, the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of Takum, the statement said, swiftly mobilized a team comprising police officers, personnel from the 67 PMF, the military, and local hunters.

A coordinated search-and-rescue mission was launched, leading to a fierce exchange of gunfire with the abductors. Overwhelmed by the security forces, the kidnappers were forced to retreat, abandoning their hostage. Mr. Itamar was subsequently rescued at Kofai Ahmadu and is currently undergoing medical evaluation at SCC Company’s medical facility in Takum.”
Security forces, the command said, have intensified efforts to track down the fleeing criminals, vowing to bring them to justice.
Commending the swift and effective response, Commissioner of Police Bretet Emmanuel Simon reaffirmed the command’s commitment to maintaining law and order in the state.
He also issued a stern warning to criminal elements, declaring that Taraba State will not serve as a haven for illegal activities.
