The Isoko Association of North America (IANA) has elected Dr. Goodie Omuyeh as chairman of its caretaker committee, with a mandate to strengthen the organisation’s structure and promote transparency and accountability.
Other members of the new caretaker committee are Mr. Patrick Amawhe, secretary; Mr. Jacob Esi, treasurer; and Mrs. Ajiri Obieroma, financial secretary.
Speaking on his new responsibility, Omuyeh pledged to unite Isoko people across the United States and Canada and promote effective governance within the association.
He also stressed the importance of building stronger networks with key stakeholders, political leaders and the umbrella Isoko Development Union (IDU), saying such collaboration would enable the Isoko people to speak with one voice on socioeconomic and political issues affecting the ethnic nationality.
Omuyeh, a seasoned administrator, holds multiple graduate degrees in mass communication, education, administration, leadership development and social work.
Before relocating to the United States for further studies, he served as strategic planning manager with Insight Communications in Nigeria.

In the United States, he has held several senior positions, including supervisory manager in the forensic unit of the Public Health Management Corporation of Philadelphia and director of Community and Behavioral Health at Devereux Foundation.
He also recently served as executive director of a private health organisation in Pennsylvania.
Beyond his professional career, Omuyeh is a creative writer with a strong interest in Isoko culture and traditions. He recently published Folklore of the Isoko People, a collection of Isoko folktales.
The new IANA chairman said he looks forward to collaborating with government and non-governmental organisations to attract meaningful initiatives capable of improving the well-being and development of Isoko people in the years ahead.
