In a bid to enhance the fortunes of its key distributors, the International Breweries (IBPLC) has pledged commitment to ensuring the sustained growth and development of their businesses as major stakeholders.

At the event in Lagos, the company commended its distributors who made impact on its growth across the country, either as new distributors or loyal partners, who backed the company since its inception over 50 years ago.

Distributors were recognised on the night and received awards for their Sterling achievements in the year.

They were also treated to world class musical performances by top Nigerian artists.

Speaking at the occasion, Managing Director of International Breweries Plc, Hugo Rocha, commended the distributors for the long-standing relationship and the value they have added to the business over the years.

His words: “We are delighted to commend our esteemed distributors for their commitment to our diverse brands over the past 12 months. In spite of the challenges in the operating environment, the company did well and achieved many milestones that call for celebrating our partnership that was not only built for today, but also for the future.

“And as an ambitious organisation keen on meeting the needs of consumers across the country, neither the International Breweries Plc organisation nor its trade and distribution partners would rest on their oars. We are looking forward to 2022, which will be more impactful than 2021.”

Some of the award winners are MacDen Communications, which emerged winners in the prestigious President Award category.

Acknowledging the role of the distributors as strategic made partners in the organisation, Rocha also restated the company’s commitment to producing high quality standards to ensure consumers enjoy wholesome and safe products of the finest quality products, which comply with all legal requirements as stipulated by the Standards Organisation of Nigeria (SON) and National Agency for Food, Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC).

“We recognise and acknowledge your efforts in reducing unemployment in the country through job creation and getting our products into the hands of the consumers who reside in the most remote areas of the country.

“Our products are household names because of your support and dedication and more than ever before, we are committed to improving our internal processes to help you achieve more. In the last 50 years, IBPLC has achieved giant strides as a producer of some of the finest quality beverages internationally and in the local market,” he stated.

He urged the distributors to redouble their efforts in growing their business in the years ahead, adding that the company was proud of their support and commitment in ensuring that the company grew from strength to strength.

Nigeria defeat Algeria 2–0 to reach AFCON Semifinals, set up clash with hosts Morocco

Nigeria defeat Algeria 2–0 to reach AFCON Semifinals, set up clash with hosts Morocco Paul Joseph Nigeria booked their place in the semifinals of the Africa Cup of Nations with a commanding 2–0 victory over Algeria on Saturday, setting up a high-stakes showdown against host nation Morocco. The Super Eagles delivered a disciplined and clinical performance to see off a resilient Algerian side, continuing their strong run in the tournament. The win sends Nigeria into the AFCON semifinals, where they will face Morocco, a matchup that carries added intrigue given the history between both teams. Nigeria and Morocco have each recorded two wins against one another in previous AFCON meetings, adding an extra edge to the looming encounter. Earlier in the day, Morocco secured their own semifinal ticket after defeating Cameroon 2–0 in Rabat. The result marked the Atlas Lions’ return to the AFCON final four for the first time since 2004, sparking celebrations among home supporters. Backed by a vocal crowd and buoyed by momentum, Morocco are now one victory away from reaching the final on home soil. The quarterfinal clash between Nigeria and Algeria was tightly fought in the opening half, with both teams cancelling each other out in a physical and tactically intense contest. Chances were limited, and the teams went into the break locked at 0–0. Nigeria emerged with greater purpose after halftime and broke the deadlock almost immediately. Victor Osimhen rose highest to power home a header in the 47th minute, giving the Super Eagles a crucial lead. The goal shifted the balance of the game and forced Algeria to chase the match. Ten minutes later, Osimhen turned provider, delivering the assist for Akor Adams, who finished calmly to double Nigeria’s advantage. The second goal effectively sealed the result, as Nigeria managed the remainder of the game with confidence and composure. The victory reinforces Nigeria’s status as one of the tournament favourites and sets the stage for a blockbuster semifinal against Morocco, with a place in the AFCON final at stake. All eyes will now be on the clash between the Super Eagles and the Atlas Lions as both sides chase continental glory.
