The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Imo State Chapter has warned individuals and Support Groups of various candidates of the party for next year’s general elections to shun acts that run contrary to the vision of the party in winning the coming polls nationwide.

State Youth Leader of Imo PDP, Hon. Greg O.C. Nwadike gave the stern warning Wednesday while addressing the state, zonal and Local Government officials of a pro-Atiku Abubakar/Ifeanyi Okowa Support Group, the South East Atikulated Vanguard, SEAV, Imo State Chapter who were at the PDP State Secretariat, along Okigwe Road Owerri for an interface.

Nwadike whose office oversees the PDP Directorate for Support Groups remarked that the party will not take it kindly with any PDP member or support group working against the interest of the party in the 2023 general elections.

He declared that supporters of the party, both as individuals and groups, must mobilize the electorate in their areas to vote for the PDP in all the elections, from presidential, National to state Assembly.

The youth leader further listed the duties of a Support Group to include; financial and logistic assistance to the party, propagation of the party’s manifesto, canvassing for party candidates and provision of relevant information for effective planning etc.

He commended the SEAV for joining the league of PDP support groups for Atiku/Okowa and assured them of the willingness of the party in the state to partner with all relevant stakeholders towards ensuring that the PDP clinches victory at all levels in the coming polls.

He also challenged support groups to speak up on state and national issues especially when the party’s interest is at stake and threatened by some opposition elements who are doing everything to destabilize the PDP in the state.

“PDP in Imo State is not against any individual leaving the party and joining another party of his choice, but won’t tolerate anybody being in PDP and working against the party. We must vote PDP all the way, no zigzag voting. If you have any candidate you love other than our candidates, join his party and leave PDP,” he said.

Earlier in his speech, the chairman of SEAV, Chief Stanley Obioha, thanked the Youth Leader for the warm reception accorded the group on behalf of the State Working Committee, SWC, and assured that his group is poised to work and win with the party.

Obioha disclosed that SEAV has successfully established its structures in the three (3) senatorial zones, 27 LGA and 305 electoral wards in the state and is determined to support PDP in all ramifications possible.

He appealed to the leadership of the party in the state to count on the support of SEAV because members of the group are all PDP and people itching to vote out the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC comes February 25, 2023.

Highlights of the occasion was the decoration of Hon. GOC Nwadike and other officials of the party with branded Cap and T-shirt of SEAV and posing for a group photograph at the close of the meeting.
