Italy’s defender, Alessandro Bastoni, has played down rumours of interest from two English clubs, Manchester United and Tottenham, seeking to sign him away from Inter Milan saying he is committed to the Nerazzurri.
The young star impressed with Italy’s yesterday game against Hungary that resulted in Roberto Mancini’s side topping the group that includes England and Netherlands, insisted the 2022 Supercoppa Italiana winners have not informed him of any interest.
Italy had lost to Argentina in the Finalissima but ignited their UEFA Nations League campaign with a 2-1 win over Hungary. Goals from Nicolò Barella and Lorenzo Pellegrini were enough to see off Hungary, who defeated England in their opening match, although, Gianluca Mancini accidentally put the ball into his own net on an Attila Fiola cross.
Bastoni, after the win against Hungary, told RAl Sport that “Every game is difficult at international level, Hungary are a really good team, but we remained concentrated.”

“It’s natural to suffer under pressure at times at this level. We had the chances to score a third or even fourth goal, so it was a strong performance,” he added.
Italy in their first game, drew against Germany before they defeated Hungary to garner four points ahead of Hungary’s three on second, Germany on two and England’s one.
England lost their first group encounter with Hungary and played a one-all-draw with Germany yesterday.
Bastoni added, “I am 23 years old, but I try to help out the even younger players where I can. I have some experience at international level with Inter too.
“I have two years of my contract with Inter, so I am relaxed. The club hasn’t told me anything, I am just waiting to go on vacation after this and then start pre-season with Inter,” he said.
According to speculations, Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester United are allegedly in a bidding war for Bastoni, who could be for sale if the price reaches €70m.
