The Ika South Local Government Council of Delta State has commenced the disbursement of bursary award to students of the area, with each successful beneficiary receiving N50,000 as part of the council’s educational support initiative aimed at promoting academic excellence and easing financial challenges faced by students.

Announcing the commencement of the payment exercise, the Chairman of Ika South Local Government Council, Jerry Ehiwarior, said the bursary scheme underscores his administration’s commitment to education, youth empowerment and human capital development.
The programme, coordinated through the Ika South Students Bursary Scheme, is targeted at supporting students in higher institutions and encouraging them to remain focused on their academic pursuits.
Ehiwarior noted that education remains a critical tool for development and nation-building, stressing that his administration would continue to invest in programmes that empower young people and provide them with opportunities to achieve their full potential.
According to him, the bursary programme is designed to reduce the financial burden on students and their families while fostering a culture of excellence among beneficiaries.
“We officially commenced the disbursement of Ika South student bursaries today, reaffirming our commitment to supporting education and investing in the future of our young people.
“This initiative is aimed at easing the financial burden on students and encouraging academic excellence across our communities,” he stated.
