Iga Swiatek is set to be named world number one after she defeated Japan’s Naomi Osaka in the Miami Open to win the title.
The Polish penciled for the tennis prime spot on Monday after Australia’s Ashleigh Barty’s retirement, won Osaka 6-4 6-0 to make it her 17th consecutive win The Trumpet gathered.

“This season I feel like everything clicked so it’s great and I am really happy,” she added.

From records after the win, the 20 years old became the fourth woman in the world to win both Indian Wells and Miami Open in the same season following the likes of Germany’s Steffi Graf (1994, 1996), Belgium’s Kim Clijsters (2005) and Belarus’ Victoria Azarenka (2016).
