Gunmen have reportedly killed a final year Higher National Diploma (HND) student of the Àkwa Ibom State Polytechnic, Ikot Osurua, who was waiting to be mobilized for the National Youth Service Scheme (NYSC).
It was gathered that the victim simply identified as Prince was shot in front of girlfriend in his room where he lives, along Abuja Street in Ikot Osurua community by 1am on Wednesday.
An eyewitness who pleaded anonymity said the gunmen invaded the compound, moved straight to the room of the victim and shot him in the abdomen leaving him in the pool of his own blood.
She said the girlfriend raised the alarm before neighbours came out and rushed the victim to hospital for treatment.
“The gunmen didn’t steal anything from the house. They did not even rob anybody in the compound. They just shot him and escaped.
