Gunmen abduct Lebanese contractor, kill soldier, driver in Ondo

Unknown gunmen, yesterday, assassinated a driver and a soldier; kidnapped a Lebanese contractor at a construction site located at Ogbonmo, Ijebu-Owo in Owo Local Government Area, Ondo State.

The Trumpet gathered that the bandits at exactly 5 pm stormed the construction site, shot dead the soldier and the driver; later took away the Lebanese contractor to an unknown location.

Employees at the site revealed that the contractor was trailed to the site before he was kidnapped. They added that the gunmen fired many shots into the air which made workers flee the site on hearing the gunshots, adding that the six or seven bandits were masked.

“Two hours later, some of us came back and saw the dead bodies of the soldier and the driver, but the engineer was nowhere to be found. The police have taken the corpses to the hospital in the town.”

The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) of Ondo State Police Command, Funmi Odunlami, when reached, verified the deaths and the kidnapping of the foreigner, saying efforts were on to save the Lebanese.

However, Amotekun and vigilante group personnels in the town have commenced rummaging the forest to facilitate the release of the victim.
