Unknown gunmen on Monday kidnapped a high court judge identified as Justice Joy Unwana after a court sitting in Oron local government Area of Akwa Ibom State.
Our Correspondent gathered that the female Judge was whisked away by her abductors with her driver while the police orderly was shot dead on the spot.
It was also gathered that the incident occurred along Uyo -Okobo road while the Judge was driven home to Uyo by her driver after the court sitting in Oron
The chairman Oron branch of the Nigeria Bar Association, Toroscho Eyene Esq who confirmed the incident to our Correspondent on Tuesday said the Judge was kidnapped along Okobo axis on her way back to Uyo after court sitting.
He disclosed that members of the association have scheduled a meeting with the State Commissioner of Police and DSS on Wednesday to discuss some clues on the incident.
He said ” Yes, the sitting Judge in Oron was kidnapped yesterday (Monday) on her way back to Uyo after court sitting. By tomorrow Wednesday, we are moving down to Uyo to meet with the commissioner of Police, Olatoye Durusinmi and the DSS on the issue”.

Reacting to the incident, the Police Public Relations Officer in Akwa Ibom SP Odiko Macdon described the incident as unfortunate.
” It’s a very unfortunate bastardly act of Kidnapping a judge who presides over the high court. The command under the CP Olatoye Durusinmi has ordered a discreet investigation.
“As we speak, no stone will be left unturned, resources will be harnessed to ensure that his lordship is reunited with her family any moment from now.
“I have spoken with the family of the deceased officer who, until his death was an orderly to the Judge. Justice will be served and the perpetrators will be brought to book” he said.
