A civil society group, Deltans Life Matters, has urged the Governor of Delta State, Sheriff Oborevwori, to ensure proper management, transparency, and accountability in the implementation of the newly launched Delta State Security Trust Fund.
The appeal was made by the group’s Deputy Coordinator, Mamuzo Gabriel, who lauded Gov. Oborevwori for his visionary leadership and proactive response to the state’s security challenges.
He described the establishment of the security trust fund as a bold step toward strengthening safety, protecting lives and property, and boosting investor confidence in Delta State.
Gabriel, however, emphasized that the effectiveness of the initiative would depend largely on the governor’s commitment to ensuring that the fund is properly managed and that every contribution is used solely for improving security across the state.
“We commend Governor Oborevwori for this laudable initiative, but it is crucial that the fund be managed with transparency and accountability.

He further urged the inclusion of the state’s security aides, such as special advisers, directors, executive assistants, senior special assistants, and special assistants on security and intelligence in the administration of the fund, noting that their proximity to local communities makes them essential in intelligence gathering and grassroots crime prevention.
Also, Gabriel called for adequate funding and logistical support for the aides, as well as the adoption of advanced surveillance technologies like drones, which have proven effective in nearby Edo State for monitoring and tracking criminal activity.
He expressed optimism that with proper management, transparency, and technological innovation, the security trust fund would significantly strengthen peace and stability in Delta State, while reinforcing Gov. Oborevwori’s commitment to making the state a secure and investor-friendly environment.
