The New Delta Coalition (NDC) has described the administration of Governor Sheriff Oborevwori of Delta State as one without a vision in the business of governance.
Mr. Godwin Anaughe, stated this in a statement signed by him, on behalf of the NDC, and made available to newsmen.
He said that the recent approval of N275 billion for 76 projects by the state government was a basic expectation of a functional government, but has been hyped by Gov. Oborevwori’s media handlers who believed it is a ground breaking achievement.
“Although, Governor Sheriff Oborevwori’s spin doctor, Charles Aniagwu, has touted this development as record-breaking and history-making, we firmly believe that these projects represent only the bare minimum that a functional government should deliver,” he observed.
The NDC maintained that with Delta State’s position as the highest recipient of federal allocation, and having received over N1 trillion under the Oborevwori administration, it is unthinkable that such projects are celebrated as ground breaking accomplishments, rather than seeing such as his fundamental obligations to the state.
The group said the celebration of the governor is a revelation of the lack of ambition and vision in the governance of the state, and also exposes the governor’s ineptitude and the alarmingly low standards of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Delta State.
It challenged the Oborevwori administration to be proud of more substantial achievements, after almost two years in office, instead of settling for mediocrity and celebrating the bare minimum achievements for its citizens while neglecting transformative opportunities arising from President Tinubu’s economic reforms that could profoundly enhance the poeples’ lives and propel the state’s growth.
Anaughe added that strategic investments in critical sectors, such as water supply, power generation and distribution, agricultural development, industrial parks, rail transportation, refineries, and affordable low-income housing schemes have been neglected.
Condemning the method of contract award in the state, the NDC stated that the opaque handling of project finances and the introduction of a 40 percent mobilization fee, without disclosing individual project costs, will perpetuate a cycle of abandoned projects, corruption, and cronyism, and unfairly enrich loyalists and special interest groups.

This approach, the group said is deeply troubling, as it deliberately cultivates a culture of patronage politics ahead of the 2027 general elections, which will ultimately stifle the state’s economic growth and erode public trust.
“Rather than exploring innovative revenue streams and diversifying its economy to reduce dependence on federal funding, the government seems content with a handout mentality, traveling to Abuja, each month to collect FAAC allocations and spend same without strategic foresight.
“This cap in hand approach to managing the state’s economy, raises serious concerns about the state’s long-term financial sustainability.
“The people of Delta State deserve better than the grand celebrations of mediocre achievements that have become the hallmark of Governor Oborevwori’s administration. We demand a government that strives for excellence, not one that settles for the bare minimum and calls it a success.
“It is time for a new leadership that will prioritize the needs of our people, aim higher, and be bold in driving transformative change,” the NDC declared.
