The Adamawa State Government has been called upon to investigate claims of power abuse, human rights violation, and intimidation linked to the distribution of forms for the Poverty Alleviation and Wealth Creation Agency (PAWECA).
The call for a probe is sequel to the allegation by Annah Sunday, a resident of the Bachure Community in Karewa Ward, who alleged that certain politicians, including a member of the council from Karewa Ward had solicited sexual favors from her in exchange for obtaining the PAWECA forms.
After her video went viral on social media, she reportedly retracted her statement and issued an apology supposedly under pressure.
Consequently, the Mara Ngorheme Regreen Initiative (MANGRI) has petitioned the state governor to take swift action to address the issues raised by Annah Sunday and ensure justice is served.

The petition, signed by the group’s Programmes Manager, Comrade Suleiman Abubakar, called for an investigation into the allegations and protection for Annah Sunday against further harassment.
In its petition, the group claimed that Annah Sunday was detained, intimidated, and harassed at the behest of a prominent politician from Yola North Local Government Area, with the involvement of the Karewa Ward councillor.
“The presence of these individuals raised concerns about the potential influence of politics and power in managing the case,” the group said.
The petition also criticized the police for its unprofessional conduct, raising serious doubts about the integrity of the police.
“The alleged forced apology and detention of Annah Sunday are unacceptable and erode trust in the Nigeria Police Force (NPF), Adamawa State Command,” the petition asserts.
The petitioners urged Governor Fintiri to act promptly to resolve the issue and ensure justice.
“We respectfully request that you investigate the claims made by Annah Sunday and take disciplinary measures against those found responsible.
“This situation underscores the necessity for accountability and transparency in government programmes and the importance of safeguarding citizens’ rights,” the group stated.
