President Bola Ahmed Tinubu‘s decision to cede the two ministerial nominees slots from Taraba to the Muslim community seems not to have gone down well with the Christian community.
This was stated in a press statement yesterday made available to media men in the state by the Taraba State Concerned Christian Youths.
The group, who expressed concern over the nominations of two Muslims from the state as Ministers by the President, said the action is a “deliberate act against the Christians who constitute the majority of the population of the state.”
The statement which was signed by the group chairman, Rev Dr. Adi Allahkyauta, urged the president to retract his actions by inserting the right peg in the right hole.
Arguing that “even when prominent Christian politicians sacrificed a lot for the President to emerge as the winner of the 2023 election he still went ahead to sidelined Taraba Christians in his selection of ministers.
“It is sad that the move is a deliberate act of marginalisation, the President to listen to the voice of the Concerned Christian Youths as he did in the case of Kano state in which he Cancelled the nomination of Mariyam Shatty as Minister”.
They said it has become vital for the President who emerged on a Muslim/ Muslim joints ticket to prove to the world that he is not coming to execute a Muslim agenda.
The group further observed that the Governorship Candidates of the All Progressive Congress (APC) in the State was Christians, who according to them “sacrificed a lot to see the President emerge victorious” his decision to go ahead to nominate two Muslims instead of sharing it equally among the two faiths is unfair.
The two ministerial nominees who the group alleged are both Muslims, are the former Acting governor of the state, Senator Abubakar Danladi and Alhaji Uba Maigeri.
