A Port Harcourt-based socio-political group, Enforcers of Good Governance (EGG), has refuted reports alleging that suspended Governor Siminalayi Fubara is considering resigning from office following the travails he has faced.
The group, in a statement on Wednesday, signed by its spokesman, Igwe Jefferson, described the rumour as “premature ejaculation wish” of individuals and forces who do not mean well for Rivers State.
“These enemies of progress are merely attempting to divert attention from the harsh realities currently plaguing our dear state.
“While these rumour mongers peddle fiction, the people of Rivers State are grappling with real issues: The collapse of economic activities across the state due to the political instability.
“The alarming sanitation crisis, where refuse now clogs major roads, posing health risks and painting Rivers State in shameful colours,” the group pointed out.
The group clarified that Gov. Fubara has no intention to resign, but remains committed to the mandate freely given to him by the people of Rivers State, even as he has continued to show remarkable resilience in the face of undue pressure and political sabotage.

The group added that it had launched a door-to-door sensitisation campaign for the re-election of President Bola Tinubu.
“This initiative is in recognition of the numerous progressive policies rolled out by Mr. President, policies that have undeniably set Nigeria on the path of irreversible economic transformation,” the group said.
The EGG appealed to President Tinubu to reconsider the state of emergency in Rivers State and called on Rivers people to remain steadfast, vigilant, and united.
It said no amount of propaganda can subvert the will of a determined people.
