Popular Anambra-based cleric, Prophet Odumeje, has reached out to Nigerian music star Davido with words of encouragement following his disappointment at the 2026 Grammy Awards.
Davido, alongside other Nigerian artistes, failed to secure a win at this year’s ceremony despite earning nominations, a development that sparked widespread reactions across social media and the entertainment industry.
Reacting to the outcome, Odumeje dismissed the importance of the Grammy Awards in defining Davido’s success, insisting that the Afrobeats superstar has already surpassed the need for external validation.
According to the outspoken cleric, Davido’s journey, influence, and global fan base speak louder than any trophy. He argued that the singer’s impact on music and popular culture did not begin with the Grammys and will not end with them.
Odumeje stressed that the love Davido enjoys from millions of fans across the world is far more meaningful than any award, noting that Nigerians and music lovers recognized his talent long before international institutions paid attention.
In his message, the cleric described Davido as a “generational award,” adding that his achievements, resilience, and rise to global fame already place him among the greats of African music.
He urged the singer not to allow the absence of a Grammy win to affect his joy or sense of fulfillment, insisting that true success is measured by legacy, not metal plaques.
Odumeje’s remarks have since gone viral, resonating with fans who believe Davido remains one of Africa’s most influential music exports, Grammy or not.
