Borno State Governor, Babagana Zulum, has approved the appointment of the board for the newly established Borno State Hajj Commission.
In a statement issued by his spokesperson, Dauda Iliya, the governor announced the appointment of Alhaji Mohamed Mainok as the executive chairman of the commission, with Haruna Kukawa as the vice chairman .
Alhaji Mainok had previously served as the acting executive secretary of the now-defunct Borno state Pilgrim Welfare Board, while Kukawa is a former member of the state House of Assembly, representing Kukawa Constituency.
Other board members as announced by the governor, include, Abatcha Umar and Haruna Marii as full time members, while Mohammed Ahmed, will serve as the secretary of the commission.
According to the statement, the appointments of the executive chairman and three full-time members, are in line with Section 4(a), (b) and Section 5 of the Borno State Hajj Commission Law, 2024, and are subject to confirmation by the state House of Assembly.

Additionally, the governor approved the appointment of six part time members, including Abubakar Kyadi, Abba Banki, Ahmed Abdulkadir, Gambo Kyaei, Hajja Safiya Ibrahim, and Alhaji Yusuf Ali.
The commission members, according to the governor, will serve an initial term of four years, with the possibility of reappointment for another four- year term.
To ensure effective monitoring, and supervision , the newly formed Borno State Hajj Commission, the governor said, will operate under the office of the deputy governor.
