The defection of the Kano State Governor, Abba Yusuf from the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC) has been delayed once more.

A close associate of the governor revealed that the previously scheduled date for the official defection, January 5, 2026, has been pushed back to January 12, 2026.

Initially, Gov. Yusuf was to formally join the APC on January 5.

However, a source close to the governor, who wished to remain anonymous, disclosed that Gov. Yusuf requested more time during a meeting with Vice President Kashim Shettima in Abuja on Friday.

The source indicated that the governor aims to consult with some remaining state legislators and key stakeholders who have not yet fully committed to the proposed political shift before finalizing his defection.
