Kano State Governor, Abba Yusuf, has relieved Buba Galadima of his appointment as chairman of the governing council of Kano State Polytechnic, in a move the government described as part of an ongoing restructuring to reposition the institution.
The development was contained in a statement issued on Saturday by the governor’s spokesperson, Sunusi Bature.
According to the statement, Gov. Yusuf has approved the appointment of the Emir of Gaya, Aliyu Abdulkadir, as the new chairman of the governing council of the polytechnic.
The government explained that the decision to terminate Galadima’s appointment before the expiration of his tenure was informed by the administration’s “restructuring and alignment with the Kano First Agenda,” which is aimed at enhancing performance across key state institutions.

Although the tenure of the governing council is expected to last three years, the statement noted that the governor’s action was necessitated by reforms being implemented to ensure optimal academic and administrative outcomes at the polytechnic.
Gov. Yusuf, however, expressed appreciation to Galadima for his contributions and services to the institution during his time as council chairman.
The governor also charged the newly appointed chairman to bring his wealth of experience and leadership qualities to bear in repositioning Kano State Polytechnic for improved service delivery.
He urged the emir of Gaya to demonstrate commitment in ensuring that the institution attains greater academic standards and administrative excellence, in line with the state government’s reform agenda.
