Cross River State Governor, Senator Bassey Edet Otu, Thursday November 28 urged the Catholic Knights of St. Mulumba (KSM) to intercede for the state in prayers to overcome its challenges.

The Governor noted the unwavering commitment to humanitarian service and spiritual growth of the Knights describing their efforts as essential in these challenging times.

Governor Otu made this appeal during a courtesy visit by the Supreme Knight of the Order to the Governor in Government House, Calabar

Speaking during the visit, Otu noted that the Knights’ dedication to serving humanity aligns with the values that foster societal progress.

He expressed his appreciation for their choice of Calabar as the host city for this year’s convention, marking a return to the state after nearly a decade.

“Everything that is of God takes precedence, no matter the protocol. It is true that we are passing through difficult times, times not peculiar to Nigeria alone but shared across the globe. While there is much that can be done to address these issues, there are also interventions that only God can provide. This is a reality many fail to acknowledge,” the Governor stated.

“As you deliberate during your convention, I ask you to pray for Cross River State and for our government. Your prayers and the principles you stand for as an Order are sources of strength for us as leaders and for the people we serve,” he added.

The Supreme Knight, Sir Charles Mbelede who led the delegation in his earlier address, expressed gratitude to the Governor for his hospitality and praised the state’s progress under his leadership. He reaffirmed KSM’s commitment to humanitarian service and collaboration with stakeholders for the benefit of society.

Our correspondent gathered that the 45th Supreme Convention of the Knights of St. Mulumba, which runs from November 28 to December 2, is expected to focus on spiritual rejuvenation, unity, and charitable initiatives.
