Abia State Governor, Alex Otti, has commended the Chartered Institute of Directors (CIoD) Nigeria for its strategic position in shaping leadership in Nigeria.

Gov. Otti made the commendation when he received the President of the Chartered Institute of Directors (CIoD) Nigeria, Otunba Adetunji Oyebanji and members of the governing council who visited him in his office.

The governor assured the institute of his administration’s readiness to collaborate with it in strengthening leadership capacity, governance and ethics across both the public and private sectors.

The governor, who acknowledged the importance of leadership succession and capacity development, assured the delegation that his administration would thoroughly review their proposal, particularly those aspects on capacity building.

He directed the chief of staff and deputy chief of staff to study the details and advise him on areas of possible collaboration with the Institute, including those beyond what they presented.

“In terms of capacity building, I have taken note of some of the things you said and I would have my team look at it and find where we can work together as partners.

“So, I want to assure you that we will take a serious look at the proposal”, Gov. Otti stated.

He commended the institute’s leadership and congratulated its president on his emergence as president of the institute.

Earlier, the President of the Chartered Institute of Directors, Nigeria, Otunba Adetunji Oyebanji, expressed the readiness of the institute to partner with Abia State government to deepen governance excellence and support sustainable development.

Otunba Oyebanji said that the Institute is dedicated to promoting ethical leadership, institutional integrity and world-class corporate governance through training, certifications and knowledge-sharing.

He commended the governor’s leadership style, pointing out that “Abia State is today a testament to what becomes achievable when vision meets courage and when governance meets integrity”

He noted that a collaboration with the state government would shape a future that generations to come would celebrate.
