Governor Ahmadu Fintiri of Adamawa State has rolled out another N2 billion empowerment scheme aimed at boosting small-scale businesses and reducing poverty across the state.
Under the initiative, 40,000 beneficiaries from the state’s 226 wards will each receive N50,000 through the Poverty Alleviation and Wealth Creation Agency (PAWECA).
The governor, represented by his deputy, Prof. Kaletapwa Farauta, unveiled the programme at the Banquet Hall of the Government House, Yola.
Gov. Fintiri noted that the scheme builds on the success of the Fintiri Business Wallet, which has so far supported over 100,000 residents with direct cash grants of N50,000 each.
He said monitoring and evaluation reports show tangible results, including a drop in the state’s poverty rate from 74% to 64% and measurable growth in its GDP.
“This year, we plan to disburse another N7 billion through this wallet,” the governor announced.

“Beginning from today, N2 billion will go to 40,000 beneficiaries, while an additional N5 billion will be released to 100,000 beneficiaries before the end of 2025.”
The governor stressed that empowering women, in particular, has a ripple effect on communities.
“Financial stability for our mothers means family stability —more food on the table, better nutrition, improved health, more children in school, and a better society,” he said.
The Ministry of Entrepreneurship Development and PAWECA have been tasked with providing follow-up support, including running “trader clinics” to strengthen beneficiaries’ skills in micro-investment, savings, and bookkeeping.
Gov. Fintiri reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to sustained economic empowerment, describing the programme as a key driver of inclusive growth in Adamawa State.
