Ondo State Governor, Mr. Lucky Aiyedatiwa, on Monday inaugurated 16 new commissioners in Akure, charging them to hit the ground running and deliver on the administration’s promises to the people of the state.
Speaking during the swearing-in ceremony held at the International Centre for Culture and Events, Akure, the governor cautioned the families, friends and associates of the newly appointed commissioners against exerting undue pressure or demanding unnecessary favours from them.
“As you assume office, I urge you to hit the ground running. The people of Ondo State expect nothing but the best from us, having entrusted us with an overwhelming mandate, and we must strive to deliver on all our electioneering promises,” Gov. Aiyedatiwa said.
He noted that the delay in constituting the cabinet was to allow him time to carefully select competent individuals capable of helping him achieve his administration’s developmental goals.
The governor charged the commissioners to carry out their responsibilities with integrity and patriotism, emphasising the need for cordial working relationships with civil servants across Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs).
“You must respect due process and work together with your accounting officers and other top government functionaries towards ensuring that we deliver on our promise of providing dividends of good governance to our people,” the governor said.

Addressing the appointees’ supporters, he added: “To your family members, friends and associates, I offer congratulations and a word of caution.
“While we appreciate their support, they must not put the new appointees under undue pressure by soliciting unnecessary favours.
“You must refrain from promoting sectional interests, as your constituencies are not limited to specific areas, the entire state is their responsibility.”
Gov. Aiyedatiwa further assured that more opportunities remained available for others who were yet to be appointed into his administration.
Those sworn in as commissioners are Prof. Igbekele Ajibefun, Ayorinde Olawoye, Ayodele Akande, Alabi Johnson, Alhaji Amidu Takuro, Adewale Akinlosotu, Idowu Ajanaku, and Oluwaseun Osamaye.
