The Gombe State Government has initiated a comprehensive overhaul of its Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) collection system. The reform, backed by an Executive Order from Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya, mandates that all Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs), along with other revenue-generating bodies, process financial transactions exclusively through the state’s Single Treasury Account (STA) via the Gombe State Central Revenue Management platform.
This bold directive represents a major shift in the state’s fiscal governance strategy. By consolidating all revenue streams into a unified digital platform, Gombe State is actively working to eliminate leakages, enforce transparency, and build greater public trust in its financial institutions.
At the center of this transformation is the Gombe State Internal Revenue Service (GIRS), led by Executive Chairman Hajiya Aisha Adamu. Under her leadership, GIRS has rolled out an advanced Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system; a digital backbone designed to unify the state’s revenue collection, data analytics, and payment processes across all MDAs.
The ERP platform allows for real-time monitoring and analysis of revenue activities, equipping the government with powerful tools for accurate forecasting, smarter budgeting, and timely decision-making. Experts familiar with the system told The Trumpet that the digital reform also simplifies payment procedures for citizens and institutions, eliminating red tape and significantly improving service delivery.

GIRS has already completed the integration of all MDAs into the platform, and the process is now extending to key educational institutions across the state. Recent visits by the GIRS team to the Gombe State Transport Service, the College of Health Technology in Kaltungo, and the College of Education in Billiri mark the ongoing efforts to bring all sectors on board. These visits are part of a carefully phased implementation strategy aimed at minimizing disruption and ensuring a smooth transition.
This ambitious financial reform reflects Governor Yahaya’s commitment to transparent governance and long-term economic stability. By harnessing the power of digital innovation and instituting strict revenue controls, Gombe State is not only boosting its IGR capacity but also positioning itself as a national model for effective and accountable governance.
As more institutions come online in the weeks ahead, the government is urging citizens to embrace the new system by fulfilling tax obligations and using the digital payment platforms now available. With these reforms, Gombe is signaling a new era of fiscal discipline and economic self-reliance, setting a powerful precedent for other Nigerian states to follow.
