The Commissioner of Police in Gombe State, Umar Ahmed Chuso, has ordered heightened security and intelligence-led policing across the state ahead of the Christmas and New Year celebrations.
The directive was issued during his maiden conference with area commanders, tactical commanders, divisional police officers, and heads of departments, convened to review and strengthen security arrangements for the festive period.
Chuso directed senior officers to intensify patrols, enhance police visibility and ensure effective coordination of operations to guarantee public safety.
He emphasized the need for intelligence-driven strategies and rapid response to emergencies, particularly around worship centres, markets, motor parks, recreational facilities, and other public gathering points.
The police commissioner also appealed to residents to remain vigilant and conduct themselves responsibly throughout the celebrations.

He advised members of the public to avoid unnecessary night movements, obey traffic regulations, shun reckless driving, and refrain from carrying dangerous weapons.
Chuso further urged citizens to promptly report any suspicious persons or activities to the nearest police station and to cooperate with security personnel deployed across the state.
Reaffirming the command’s commitment to peace and order, he assured residents of proactive, intelligence-based, and community-oriented policing throughout the festive season.
The statement which was signed by the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Buhari Abdullahi, said the Gombe State Police Command is fully prepared to ensure a safe and crime-free Yuletide for residents of the state.
