Ghanaian security forces have apprehended at least 48 Nigerians for their alleged involvement in romance scams, online investment fraud, and other cybercrime-related activities.
These arrests took place during a coordinated security operation in Dawhenya, located in the Ningo-Prampram constituency.
The operation occurred less than a week after Ghana deported 42 Nigerians from the Ashanti region due to allegations of prostitution, fraud, and related offenses.
The earlier deportations were announced by Frank Amoakohene, the Ashanti regional minister, in a Facebook update on December 18, 2025.
Ghana’s Minister of Communication Samuel George, stated that the recent arrests were the result of a nighttime raid conducted by joint security agencies acting on credible cyber intelligence.
In a Facebook post on Wednesday, George explained that the operation was led by the Cyber Security Authority of Ghana in partnership with National Security and the Ghana Police Service.
