Head coach of Remo Stars Gbenga Ogunbote has left Nigeria Professional Football League side following the expiration of his contract, the Trumpet learnt.
Ogunbote who coached the Rangers International, guided Remo Stars to qualify for the CAF Confederation Cup with a third-place finish in the recently concluded NPFL season.
In a statement by the club on Wednesday, August 3, 2022, the CEO thanked the football gaffer for his contributions to bringing the club back to winning ways with a historic finish last season.
“We hereby announce the departure of our Head Coach, Gbenga Ogunbote, following the expiration of his contract,” Lookmon Ogungbefun said on behalf of CEO Kunle Somane.

“Our most sincere thanks go to Coach Gbenga who was unrelenting in his efforts to get the club back to competing at the top level as well as sealing a historic continental finish, for this, we wish him nothing but future success,” he added.
Sky Blues Stars returned to the Nigeria topflight division at the close of the 2020-2021 NNL season after being relegated in the 2017-2018 NPFL season.
Consequently, Daniel Ogunmodede has been appointed in his stead and will be unveiled on Friday, though the new coach has already taken charge and led the team to a three-nil defeat in the Aiteo Cup round of 32 to Akwa United.
