The 2025 Academy Awards held in Los Angeles, saw Anora dominating the event with multiple wins, including Best Picture and Best Director for Sean Baker.
Mikey Madison secured the Best Actress award for her role in Anora, while Adrien Brody took home Best Actor for his performance in The Brutalist.
In the supporting categories, Zoe Saldaña won Best Supporting Actress for Emilia Pérez, and Kieran Culkin was awarded Best Supporting Actor for A Real Pain.
The Best International Feature went to Brazil’s I’m Still Here, while Flow was recognized as the Best Animated Feature.
The awards also celebrated achievements in writing, with Sean Baker winning Best Original Screenplay for Anora, and Peter Straughan taking Best Adapted Screenplay for Conclave.

Best Original Song was awarded to “El Mal” from Emilia Pérez, and Best Original Score went to The Brutalist.
Wicked triumphed in both Best Costume Design, and Best Production Design, while The Substance received accolades for Best Make-up and Hairstyling.
Dune: Part Two excelled in sound, visual effects, and editing. In the short film categories, I’m Not a Robot won Best Live Action Short, In the Shadow of the Cypress took Best Animated Short, and The Only Girl in the Orchestra received Best Documentary Short.
Overall, this year’s Oscars showcased a diverse range of films and talents, with a focus on both innovation and storytelling.
