The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) and the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) have jointly deployed more than 5,200 personnel across Kano State to ensure a safe and hitch-free Eid-el-Fitri celebration.
The FRSC Kano Sector Command said it has mobilised 1,889 personnel for its 2026 Eid-el-Fitri Special Patrol Operations, scheduled from March 17 to 22. The Sector Commander, CC Idris Mohammed Lawal, disclosed that the deployment includes 1,348 Regular Marshals and 541 Special Marshals to maintain round-the-clock patrols across the 44 local government areas of the state.
Lawal explained that the operation is aimed at reducing road traffic crashes, fatalities and injuries, as well as ensuring the free flow of traffic during the festive period. He added that the exercise is supported by operational logistics, including five ambulances, a heavy-duty tow truck and 25 patrol vehicles for prompt rescue services and quick clearance of obstructions.
He said enforcement would focus on major traffic offences such as speeding, dangerous overtaking, overloading, lane indiscipline, use of mobile phones while driving, seat-belt violations and operation of mechanically deficient vehicles.
Similarly, the NSCDC Kano State Command announced the deployment of over 3,400 operatives to provide security before, during and after the Sallah festivities.

He added that critical national assets and infrastructure, including power installations, water facilities and telecommunications masts, would receive special protection, while intelligence and surveillance units have been strengthened.
According to him, rapid response teams have also been placed on high alert to tackle emergencies promptly, noting that the corps is working in synergy with other security agencies to maintain law and order.
Both agencies urged residents to cooperate with authorities, remain vigilant and adhere to safety guidelines, assuring the public of adequate measures to ensure a peaceful and secure celebration.
