World Bicycle Day was celebrated at the weekend. June 3 is a day set aside by the United Nations General Assembly to promote the use of bicycle as a means of transportation.
To mark the day, the Warri Unit command of Federal Road Safety Corps, created the awareness on the need for bicycle riding.
The Warri Unit Commander of Federal Road Safety Corps, Assistant Corps Commander Danjuma Kpasha, who led members of the Corps and other riders along Delta Steel camp, said Cycling daily helps with keeping physical health in check and increases stamina.
Assistant Corps Commander Danjuma added that being active ensures better immunity Nigerians should embrace Cycling in-order to promote well-being as well as to reduce crashes on Nigerians roads.

He noted that apart from being cheaper than Vehicle to acquire, Bicycle is cheap to maintain and healthy for physical well-being of man and his environment.
He enjoined motorists to continue to comply with all traffic rules and regulations to reduce carnage on the roads urging cyclist’s to ensure that they take to all the safety precautions when riding on major road.
Others riders including special Marshall unit 13 Secretary, Isaac Victor said Cycling has proven to provide relief to those who suffer from anxiety and has also made them happier by lowering their stress levels.
They noted that Cycling is one of the safest means of transportation, hence it should be encouraged for its many advantages.
