“We need peace in the villages, Akwa Ibom needs peace. No development can take place in an environment of insecurity .”

One of the community leaders, Obong Unwana Anyanime Umoren described the election process of Akuku Akanowo as peaceful as exercised by family heads in the village.

Umoren said the village head seat was keenly contested by Chief Sunday Dickson Eshiet of Nto Atonarang family, Chief Friday Williamson Okorie ( family head ) Nto Eyeator, Chief Moses Jonah Akpanusen – an electrical technician based in Owerri and the Village Head Elect Obong Christian Ime Akanowo who emerged victoriously.

He said Akuku Akanowo won the election because of his track record of performance when he was the youth leader in the community.

“Akuku Akanowo has distinguished himself as a youth leader and political leader of Inen Ikot Eteye for many years.

“In his reign as a youth leader, he completed the Inen Ikot Eteye town hall, a pet project initiated during the reign of late village head -Obong Thompson Ike ( Edidem III ) and supervised by late chief Elder Isaac Jumbo Umoren Akpan Uko.”

Responding, Akuku Akanowo said the community would experience peace, security and development throughout his reign and sued for the cooperation of elders, youths and women in the village.

” Let me thank the state governor pastor Umo Eno , the Paramount Ruler of OrukAnam , the Chairman of council Dr Kingsley Iquot , Obonunwana Anyanime Umoren and all the family heads for electing me.

” I promised to lead by example and do justice to all manner of persons, our community will experience peace and development,” he said.
