Coach Abdu Maikaba’s side will therefore be looking to overturn that result and secure victory when the two teams meet again.

Nigeria and Burkina Faso played a 2-2 draw in Niger Republic in 2022, while the Young Stallions narrowly defeated the Flying Eagles 1-0 when they met in Lomé in 2024.

Maikaba believes the earlier defeat has given his players valuable knowledge about their opponents ahead of the decisive encounter.
“I think this is an opportunity for us to redeem ourselves having lost to Burkina Faso in the group stage,” Maikaba said.
“Having played them before, we now have an idea of their shape and structure and we are working on how to capitalise on their weaknesses, while also consolidating on our own strength.”
The Flying Eagles will take on Burkina Faso at the Stade Charles Konan Banny in Yamoussoukro, with kick-off scheduled for 7pm.
