Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintir of Adamawa state, has called for synergy among political parties to deepen democracy in the country.
The governor who made the call while playing host to the Presidential Candidate of the Social Democracy Party (SDP), Adwole Adebayo, assured the registered political parties in the state that his administration will work towards ensuring peaceful political campaigns across the state.
He was also observed to have expressed sadness at the recent attack on the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the neighboring Borno state by thugs suspected to be members of the All Progressive Congress (APC).
Describing the act as “unfortunate in this era of democracy” he beckoned at leadership of all the registered political parties to come out and condemn such inhuman behavior.
Rather than going about attacking political parties and their candidates, they should be allowed to move freely across the nooks and crannies of the country to canvas for votes from the electorates.
Fintiri, whom The Trumpet noticed to be among the numerous governors seeking for re-election, charged politicians to keep their distance from political thuggery and embrace a more civil way of running democracy as it was done in civilized nations.

While noting the cordial relationship between him and the SDP’s gubernatorial candidate in the state, Dr Umar Ardo, he assured the party of a peaceful tour of the state during their campaign.
Overwhelmed by the hands of friendship and reception accorded his party by Fintiri the SDP Presidential Candidate, who went ahead to sympathize with the people of the state on the recent havoc wrecked by floods, called on the Federal government to bring a lasting solution to the recurring flood in the country.
A whopping sum of N10 million was observed to have been doled out to the victims of the floods disasters by the SDP’s presidential candidate, whom our state correspondent observed have personally visited flood victims in Numan local government council shortly after flagging off the party’s campaign in Yola, the state capital.
