The federal government has announced fresh updates on the distribution of practical training starter packs and the payment of outstanding stipends to beneficiaries of its Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) programme.
Key Highlights
- Trainees eligible for August or September stipends will receive practical training starter packs shortly.
- No specific date was announced for the starter pack distribution.
- Beneficiaries whose July stipends were delayed by Remita issues will get a supplementary payment.
- Manual attendance records for July and August are under review for trainees with duplicate fingerprint waivers.
- Trainees have been advised to remain patient and continue their training.
The update followed a stakeholders’ meeting held on Friday, October 9, 2026, involving the Federal Ministry of Education, the Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND), the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE) and managers of TVET training centres.
Starter Packs For Eligible Trainees
According to the update, trainees eligible for August or September stipends are expected to receive their practical training starter packs shortly, although no specific date was announced for the distribution.
Supplementary Payments For Delayed July Stipends
The government also indicated that beneficiaries whose July stipends were delayed by technical issues involving Remita would be included in a supplementary payment exercise to ensure that eligible trainees receive their outstanding funds.
Meanwhile, manual attendance records for July and August are being reviewed for trainees who were granted duplicate fingerprint waivers.
The outstanding payments for the affected beneficiaries will be considered by the minister at or around the next stakeholders’ meeting, according to the update.

Trainees have been advised to remain patient and continue participating in their training while efforts are ongoing to restore portal dashboards and finalise pending approvals.
However, the latest update did not specify when the starter packs would be distributed or when the supplementary stipend payments would be made.
The development comes amid concerns among some TVET beneficiaries over delayed stipends and uncertainty surrounding the distribution of training materials needed for practical sessions.
The TVET programme is designed to provide vocational and technical skills training to beneficiaries to improve their employability and support self-reliance.
