According to the ministry, the payment is part of the Federal Government’s efforts to improve staff welfare, strengthen industrial harmony and support the effective delivery of quality education across the country.

Alausa said the payment reflects the commitment of the Tinubu administration to creating an enabling environment for tertiary institutions to function effectively.

Alausa Links CONTA Payment To Workers’ Welfare

The minister said the welfare, motivation and commitment of both academic and non-academic personnel were essential to the stability and effective functioning of tertiary institutions.

He added that the welfare of staff was also critical to the development of the skilled workforce needed to drive Nigeria’s human capital development.

Alausa said the CONTA payment was part of efforts to address legitimate welfare concerns, promote industrial harmony and minimise disruptions to academic activities across the tertiary education system.

CONTA Payment Follows CATA For Academic Staff

The announcement comes shortly after the commencement of payment of the Consolidated Academic Tertiary Institutions Allowance (CATA) to academic staff on Monday.

According to Alausa, the payments demonstrate the Federal Government’s efforts to meet its obligations to personnel across the tertiary education sector and strengthen institutions responsible for producing the skilled workforce required for Nigeria’s socio-economic development.

The minister said the government would continue to engage relevant unions, institutional authorities and other stakeholders to address outstanding issues and promote a stable and productive tertiary education system.
