The Federal Government of Nigeria has launched a specialized training program in rock tiling and interlocking design, aimed at equipping unemployed youths with essential skills to boost employment opportunities. The initiative was unveiled on Wednesday in Jalingo, Taraba State, during the 2nd Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) Camp.
The program, driven by the Federal Ministry of Education, forms a core part of the government’s Renewed Hope Initiative, which prioritizes youth empowerment and poverty eradication through practical education. Speaking at the event, Dr. Muyibat Adenike Olodo, Director of Technology and Science Education, described the training as a transformative effort to bridge the skills gap among Nigerian youths.
“This initiative is pivotal to the Ministry’s agenda to empower young Nigerians with practical skills, ensuring resilience and economic growth,” Dr. Olodo stated. She highlighted the importance of hands-on training in rock tiling and interlocking design, noting that these skills are vital for modern construction and urban development.
Building on the success of the previous TVET Camp, which focused on painting, this year’s edition expands into specialized technical training, fostering creativity, craftsmanship, and job readiness. Alhaji Idris Goje, Permanent Secretary of the Taraba State Ministry of Education, commended the program’s focus on preparing students for a competitive job market through practical workshops and industry exposure.

The TVET Camp is a cornerstone of the Federal Government’s commitment to driving innovation, creating jobs, and fostering sustainable development across Nigeria.
