The federal government has lauded the Super Eagles for their bravery, resilience, and dignified representation of Nigeria, assuring the team of the nation’s steadfast pride and support despite their loss in the tournament.
In a press release by the Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, the federal government commended the national team for their dedication and for upholding Nigeria’s honor on the continental stage.
The minister noted that the Super Eagles exhibited character, teamwork, and determination throughout the competition—qualities that are highly valued by Nigerians both at home and abroad.
“Even in defeat, you demonstrated character, teamwork, and resilience, and those traits are significant to the nation you represent,” the statement said.
Idris acknowledged that football, much like life, has its highs and lows, but emphasized that the team’s dedication, fighting spirit, and consistency during the tournament earned them the respect and gratitude of the country.

Reiterating the government’s support for the team, Idris assured the players that Nigerians are thankful for the joy, hope, and inspiration they brought throughout the competition.
