The Ministry of Health and Social Welfare has announced that the federal government has initiated a new plan to tackle the scourge of tuberculosis as a health challenge in the country.
In a post on its X handle on Friday, the ministry said that the treatment and care for tuberculosis patients has been added to Nigeria’s primary healthcare system, assuring vulnerable Nigerians that help is on the way.
Tuberculosis the ministry stated, remains one of Nigeria’s biggest health challenges, adding however, that the script is being flipped following the adoption of the new initiative.

It made reference to a meeting hosted by the wife of the President, Oluremi Tinubu, where the Minister of Health, Mohammed Pate in the spirit of the new TB action plan, pushed the need for collaboration between the public and private sectors in combating TB, especially in the production of vaccines locally.
“This administration is not just talking about ending the panacea but making it happen. We are showing the world that action speaks louder than words. Be part of the solution to end TB in Nigeria and with the medical relief programme greenlit by Mr. President, relief is on the way for vulnerable Nigerians,” the ministry’s post stated.
