The Association of Resident Doctors in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) has declared that the indefinite strike by its members will continue until all their grievances are fully resolved.
In a statement released on Wednesday, ARD-FCT President, Dr. George Ebong, confirmed that though the Federal Capital Territory Administration has started addressing some of their longstanding demands, they remain firm in their decision to continue with the strike.
He reported that 28 doctors recently received overdue salary arrears that ranged from one month to a year, while some members were also compensated from the medical residency training fund.
However, he pointed out that out of 150 doctors eligible for the medical residency training fund, 47 have yet to receive their payments, and several critical demands are still unresolved.

Ebong praised the FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike, for initiating the payment process, calling it “the beginning of the implementation” of their requests.
Nonetheless, he stressed that the strike will persist despite the partial payments.
He highlighted that while the doctors value the ongoing discussions with the National Assembly and FCTA management, they will continue the strike until all outstanding salary arrears, allowances, and welfare issues are fully addressed.
Among the unresolved demands are the
payment of the remaining medical residency training fund for 47 doctors, settlement of salaries owed to external resident doctors for six–seven months, payment of skipping arrears, promotion arrears, and hazard allowance backlogs.
Other demands include the full implementation of the CONMESS 25% and 35% adjustment, recruitment of additional healthcare workers, and enhancing the working conditions in public hospitals in the FCT.
