Former Ekiti State Governor, Ayodele Fayose, and the state’s Deputy Governor, Monisade Afuye, have expressed confidence that Governor Biodun Oyebanji will secure a decisive victory in Saturday’s governorship election.

Fayose made the prediction after casting his vote in Afao-Ekiti, Irepodun/Ifelodun Local Government Area, saying the outcome of the election was already evident from the mood of the electorate.

According to him, Governor Oyebanji has already won the election, citing what he described as the positive disposition of residents across the state. He predicted that the governor would emerge victorious by an overwhelming margin.

Similarly, Deputy Governor Monisade Afuye, who voted at Polling Unit 003, Atiba Aafin Ward 1 in Ikere-Ekiti around 8:50 a.m., also forecast a comfortable victory for the incumbent governor.

Afuye commended voters for turning out in large numbers to participate in the exercise, describing the turnout as a demonstration of civic responsibility and patriotism.

She said reports from different parts of the state indicated strong voter participation, adding that the massive turnout reflected the impact of the All Progressives Congress (APC)’s statewide campaign efforts.

The deputy governor maintained that Governor Oyebanji had served the state with dedication and had earned the support of many residents through his performance in office.

Ekiti voters are electing a governor on Saturday, with the incumbent seeking a second term amid a contest involving candidates from other political parties.

The election is being closely monitored as one of Nigeria’s major off-cycle governorship polls.
