A soccer fan tragically lost his life after falling from the stands during the Nations League final between Portugal and Spain in Munich on Sunday, June 8, as confirmed by UEFA.
The incident occurred when the fan fell from the central tier into the press area located in the lower tier during the first half of extra time.
Emergency services and police quickly arrived to provide assistance.
A UEFA spokesperson reported a “medical emergency” and sadly confirmed that a fan had died during the match.

After the game, which Portugal won 5-3 on penalties following a 2-2 draw, representatives from both teams expressed their condolences.
Spain’s coach, Luis de la Fuente, shared his sympathies during the post-match press conference, stating “I want to express my deepest condolences because a fan has died. It reminds us of what is truly important in life.”
A representative from the Portuguese team also conveyed their condolences, noting that the death “casts a shadow on our victory today.”
Portugal’s coach, Roberto Martinez, described the news as “extremely sad.”
The fan is believed to have fallen approximately eight meters, but the circumstances surrounding the fall remain unclear.
