The nephew of the former Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Babachir Lawan, Dr. Emmanuel Musa, has declared his interest in running for the Adamawa State governorship election in 2027.
The declaration is the culmination of his acquiescence to sustained pressure from stakeholders across the state, including socio-cultural groups, civil society organisations, student and advocacy groups, all urging him to step into the political arena and build on the legacies of Governor Ahmadu Fintiri.
Confirming the announcement, Dr. Musa’s Chief of Staff, Kukuya Godwin, stated that his choice to run comes from a growing demand from the public for a different type of leadership in the state.
“I can confirm without any doubt that Dr. Emmanuel Musa will be running for the Adamawa governorship seat in 2027,” Kukuya said.
“This decision comes after many groups and individuals have consistently urged him to lead the state in a new direction.”

While consultations are still ongoing about which political party Dr. Musa will join, Kukuya mentioned that an official announcement will be made soon.
“Politics changes quickly. We are talking to several parties and will make a well-thought-out decision shortly. But one thing is certain, he will run for office,” he added.
Dr. Musa’s announcement signals the start of a new chapter in his political career.
Before now, as the founder of Emnamu Foundation, Dr. Musa, through the foundation, supported the vulnerable and less privileged in Adamawa State and parts of the country.
