Former Governor of Taraba State, Rev. Jolly Nyame, has revealed plans to establish a community university in Yorro Local Government Council of the state.
Speaking at the 2024 Mantau Festival held at the Mumuye House in Jalingo, the state capital, he highlighted Yorro’s potentials to sustain a tertiary institution that would benefit its residents.
Nyame noted that Yorro community possesses abundant resources, including food and cash crops, which if properly harnessed, will address the community’s needs and promote development.
He commended the youth wing of the Mumuye Cultural Development Association for organizing the festival, which brought together Mumuye sons and daughters to celebrate their cultural heritage and successes.

The ex-governor called for unity and cooperation among members of the Yorro community, asserting that collective efforts will lead to greater progress and enable them enjoy the full benefits of democracy.
Also speaking, the traditional ruler of Kpan Sanwi chiefdom, Pastor Haniel Banti, called for unity among members of the Yorro community to achieve greater development and progress.
He emphasised that collective efforts and cooperation within the community will lead to more significant achievements, urging the people to put aside their differences in order to herald the much-desired growth to the area.
The traditional ruler commended the leadership of the Mumuye Cultural Development Association for organizing the festival, which provided an opportunity for Mumuye people to celebrate their culture and heritage.
