Felix Erhimedafe has officially assumed office as Acting Chairman of the Delta State Waste Management Board, pledging to strengthen sanitation efforts and deliver a cleaner environment across Delta State.
His appointment follows the resignation of Mofe Edema, who stepped down on March 31, 2026, to pursue his ambition of representing Warri South Constituency I in the Delta State House of Assembly. The move aligns with the directive of Governor Sheriff Oborevwori, which requires political appointees seeking elective office to vacate their positions in line with constitutional provisions.
The formal handover ceremony took place at the Board’s headquarters in Asaba, where Erhimedafe commended his predecessor for his service and wished him success in his political pursuit.
In his inaugural remarks, the new Acting Chairman assured residents of his commitment to improving waste management operations. He said his administration would work closely with the state government to enhance sanitation and promote a healthier environment.

Erhimedafe also called for stronger collaboration among stakeholders, noting that effective waste management depends on public cooperation and shared responsibility. He added that the Board would build on existing frameworks while introducing new strategies to improve sanitation across both urban and rural communities.
The Delta State Waste Management Board has witnessed several leadership changes in recent times. It was first inaugurated under Bazim Chinye, who later resigned after winning election as Chairman of Aniocha North Local Government Council. His exit led to the appointment of Edema, whose resignation has now paved the way for Erhimedafe’s leadership.
The transition reflects ongoing political developments in the state, as expectations grow for sustained improvements in waste disposal systems and environmental sanitation.
