The Managing Director of Hensek Integrated Services Engineer Uwem Okoko has urged governments at all levels to patronize local vendors in the construction industry to increase local content and boost local economy
Speaking with newsmen in Uyo on Thursday while delivering 10 lanes of 9.5km dual carriage road to AKwa Ibom state government to mark the 35th anniversary of the state creation, Okoko said local construction companies have the technical capabilities to deliver projects according to specifications.
He said the road project billed for commissioning by the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Atiku Abubakar was awarded by Governor Udom Emmanuel against all pressure that local vendors will not deliver the project.
Okoko explained that the road is made up 5km drainage tunnel and 10 lanes , 9.5km while the tunnel from Ifa to Ibesikpo Asutan council area.

“We deployed all engineering practices to execute the project . The tunnel is all the way from Ifa to Ibesikpo .”

“This is the first project I have handled . Let me thank governor Udom Emmanuel because I have not seen any state government in Nigeria that would have awarded this kind of contract to not just to an indigenous contractor but to a company from AKwa Ibom.”
He therefore urged governments to continue to promote competent construction firms to compete with foreign companies and add value to the local economy .
