Akwa Ibom State Governor Pastor Umo Eno has relieved Hon Sam Osung of his appointment as Aide to the governor on media.
It was gathered that Osung who is also the Chairman of the Natural Oil And Gas Suppliers Association (NOGASA) in the state allegedly used his position to extort money from members of the state chapter of the Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria ( IPMAN) and impounded their trucks when they refused to comply.
The Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria (IPMAN) yesterday ordered their members to withdraw services leading to the closure of all petrol stations in the state.
Transporters and motorists across the state resorted to buying petroleum products from the ‘black market’ at an exorbitant rate of N1,500 per litre causing more hardship to the people before the government resolved the issue with the union.
It was gathered that the situation caused serious embarrassment to the government resulting in the termination of the appointment of Osung as an Aide to the governor.
