Agbonayinma Calls for Accountability in Atiku Petition
Speaking to journalists, Agbonayinma said the matter deserved renewed scrutiny in the interest of accountability and the rule of law.
He argued that the outcome of the previous investigation should not be suppressed and urged the anti-graft agency to ensure that the allegations received appropriate attention.
“I want to thank Nigerians, the EFCC and those praying for me in this struggle. The laws are meant for both the rich and the poor. After the EFCC has done a fantastic job, it should not be kept under the table,” he said.
The former lawmaker described reporting alleged wrongdoing as a constitutional responsibility, maintaining that public officeholders should be subject to the same laws as other citizens.
He also disclosed that he had written to United States President Donald Trump over the allegations, seeking attention to the matter.

The development therefore represents a renewed investigative process, with the outcome dependent on the commission’s examination of the petition and any supporting evidence.
